Launched by Daniel Vaughan-Whitehead and Auret van Heerden during the first Fair Wage conference in Washington D.C. in 2009, the Fair Wage Network aimed to advance wage practices along global supply chains integrating the Fair Wage approach at a national and international level.
The Fair Wage approach was developed and explained in the book Fair Wages written by Daniel Vaughan-Whitehead, and further developed in The Fair Wage Solution (2025), expanding the framework to meet today’s sustainability and due-diligence requirements.
Our Mission
We strive to help companies build fair, sustainable, and high-performing wage systems across global supply chains through stewarding the evolution of their wage standards and practices.
This process begins with fostering trust: together, we implement a step-by-step approach (from assessment to remediation and certification) with a transparent, industry-proven methodology.
Based on a cooperative framework, the Fair Wage Network represents a key step in fostering wage standards improvement, in the quest for sustainable business.
Our Approach
We work hand in hand with companies through a clear, step-by-step process:
Assessment
Remediation
Certification
using a transparent, industry-proven methodology that builds trust and delivers measurable results.
Why It Matters
By combining cooperation, data, and expert guidance, the Fair Wage Network supports companies in strengthening wage standards while enhancing sustainability performance and long-term value creation.
A Global Network
Our organization continues to grow, bringing together experts and partners from around the world to support companies on their journey toward fair and sustainable wage practices.
